For the Rupp’s paint we decided to use Urethane since it is the most common and is likely what we’ll be using for my Dodge when she’s ready for paint. We found all the supplies at a small auto paint store that we just happened to drive by on the way to somewhere else. For the quart of paint, and all the other supplies it cost about $130 total for all the supplies we needed. A lot of money for a little bike, huh?
Materials we used:
Matrix single stage Urethane paint: GM Sports Blue Metallic 33U/WA156L used for the Chevy Aveo.
With a 1:1 ratio paint/reducer.
U-Pol Clear #1 UV resistant clear coat
U-Pol #5 high-build primer.
Dupli-color self-etching and sandable primer.

We created a little paint booth with a tart and bungees to isolate two sides of the parts.
We prepped all the parts with B-12 first then some of the urethane reducer after hanging the parts up and just before primer. We used self-etching followed by High-Build. We would use a water damped clean cloth to wipe the parts if any dust/bugs find their way onto the fresh primer.
We painted the parts in about 3 coats. After the third coat was dry, we applied the tank stickers, and then cleared all the parts (2 coats).
The paint looks great! We’ve assembled the bike since then and are very happy with the color. One concern is that it clips off real easy; I noticed that the paint would chip off the primer! There has to be something wrong with that, maybe too heavy of a first coat of paint? Apparently this is common as it is always the case with the cars my dad has painted in the past, that is why he always painted cars assembled instead of painting individual parts.
