Magnum starters are interchangeable with LA starters. Magnum’s up to 1998, after that they use a different electrical connection but otherwise the start is the same as the earlier Magnum starter.
They are shorter, much lighter, but wider.
The mounting holes are the same and the gear extension (1/2″) is the same according to my measurements. 13mm and 8mm are the wrench sizes for the Magnum nuts.
Supposedly the newer starters spin faster, and take less power to spin.
They spin big-blocks and stroker small block Mopar’s just fine. I’m very happy with my Magnum starter in my old 4spd Dodge.
