Pictures from 2008’s Spring Fling Mopar car show in Van Nuys are up!
We only attended Saturday as the price of gas made this a one day event for us. Although I didn’t have plans to buy anything, we found the exact tach I have been wanting; a discontinued Mallory Pro Tach 1 657 with built in rev limiter and shift light!
I got it for 65 which is a good price considering that it usually goes for over $40 + shipping on eBay for USED.
Photography at this event is harder than other car shows since the background is almost never clean (people walking around in back ground and reflections in cars paint). I’m trying this new gallery feature with Wordpress…

For the Rupp’s paint we decided to use Urethane since it is the most common and is likely what we’ll be using for my Dodge when she’s ready for paint. We found all the supplies at a small auto paint store that we just happened to drive by on the way to somewhere else. For the quart of paint, and all the other supplies it cost about $130 total for all the supplies we needed. A lot of money for a little bike, huh?

My pictures are up, this year I shot in mostly RAW and spent about 2 hours in post processing, mostly experimenting.
This year was great! DynoMax was there with the dyno and I was able to get three runs in (two for me, one of my dad). At the DynoMax Power to the Wheels dyno I witnessed a (roughly) 10% increase in horsepower and torque from last year’s self-destructing engine!
We stayed at Circus Circus this year and were satisfied with the room. We were put into the Manor, actually the very farthest room from the main Circus Circus building. Literally, the farthest possible, but the room was big and everything worked (mostly, shower drained slowly).
That’s all for now ^_^

Rupp parts have become rather expensive lately, seems we are one of many Rupp restoration projects. Of the many parts we needed for this restoration is a 1971+ Rupp rear fender. We found a good front fender off eBay but the rear fenders are just too expensive for our budget so we make our own.

Magnum starters are interchangeable with LA starters. Magnum’s up to 1998, after that they use a different electrical connection but otherwise the start is the same as the earlier Magnum starter.

I just added the pictures from Fall Fling 2007 to my gallery. This is a all Mopar show at Woodly Park which my dad an I have been going to for the last probably 9 years. Parking was a little farther than usual but we still found free parking near by.
Oh man, Portillo’s was great on the way back ^_^
This year I decided to shoot in RAW, I’m glad I did. The editing you can do to a RAW fixes most exposure and lighting issues and allows you modify/crop each picture easily when using Adobe Bridge CS3
Some of my favorites from the show:

Today, we replaced the fuel pump in my Camaro after a troublesome diagnosis.
The symptoms were similar to an electrical problem, misfiring under load only, hesitation. We finally diagnosed the fuel pump with a fuel pressure gauge after replacing the plugs/wires/one coil. The spec psi at the fuel rail is about 45 (1997+ V6 or V8), I had about 20. We ended up checking the pressure at the filter so as to take most of the lines and that regulator out of the circuit.
[thumb:1672:l]The easiest way to get the pump out was to cut a hole in the body. Included here is a picture of the plate needed to cover the hole in the body. The pump is a Carter brand with a one year warranty from Pep Boys, purchased today.
